Nonlinear forcing of climate on mountain denudation during glaciations

چکیده
Denudation is one of the main processes that shapes landscapes. Because temperature, precipitation and glacial extents are key factors involved in denudation, climatic fluctuations thought to exert a strong control on this parameter over geological timescales. However, direct impacts variations denudation remain controversial, particularly those involving Quaternary cycles mountain environments. Here we measure situ cosmogenic 10Be concentration quartz marine turbidites two high-resolution cores collected Mediterranean Sea, providing near-continuous (temporal resolution ~1–2 kyr) reconstruction Southern Alps since 75 kyr ago (ka). This palaeo-denudation record can be compared with well-constrained last cycle. Our results indicate total rates were approximately times higher than present during Last Glacial Maximum (26.5–19 ka), component being $$1.5_{ - 1.0}^{ + 0.9}$$ mm yr?1. moderately glaciated (74–29 similar today (0.24 ± 0.04 yr?1). suggests nonlinear forcing climate mainly controlled by interplay between glacier velocity basin topography. Hence, onset glaciations, 2.6 million years ago, did not necessarily induce synchronous global pulse. Constraints cycle influence landscape evolution areas, according beryllium isotope measured from sequence turbidites.

Climate Forcing during the Holocene
The role of several important factors that have played a role in Holocene climate change is examined. These forcing factors operate on different time-scales: lower frequency (millennial-scale) climate changes associated with orbital forcing, century-scale variability associated with solar forcing, and annualto decadal-scale variability associated with volcanic forcing. Feedbacks within the clim...

in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.
Solar forcing of regional climate change during the Maunder Minimum.
We examine the climate response to solar irradiance changes between the late 17th-century Maunder Minimum and the late 18th century. Global average temperature changes are small (about 0.3 degrees to 0.4 degrees C) in both a climate model and empirical reconstructions. However, regional temperature changes are quite large. In the model, these occur primarily through a forced shift toward the lo...
متن کاملFreshwater forcing of abrupt climate change during the last glaciation.
Large millennial-scale fluctuations of the southern margin of the North American Laurentide Ice Sheet occurred during the last deglaciation, when the margin was located between about 43 degrees and 49 degrees N. Fluctuations of the ice margin triggered episodic increases in the flux of freshwater to the North Atlantic by rerouting continental runoff from the Mississippi River drainage to the Hu...
متن کاملThe influence of piedmont deposition on the time scale of mountain-belt denudation
[1] The linear correlation between modern sediment yields and mean drainage-basin elevation suggests that mountainbelt topography is denuded exponentially with a time scale of approximately 50 Myr following the cessation of active uplift. Some Paleozoic orogens, however, still exist as highelevation terrain. Here I explore this paradox within the broader question of what variables control the d...
